Yesterday, Injustice 2 was announced as a sequel to the acclaimed Injustice: Gods Among Us.

While the game is announced, there have not been many details beyond the cinematic trailer and a small paragraph on the injustice website. As of right now there is no info on where and when this game is supposed to take place, or if it has anything to do with the previous game’s story. You can view the trailer below.

In the trailer, five characters are essentially confirmed to be in the game. Superman, Batman, Aquaman, and Flash are all returning characters, and Supergirl will be a brand new entry to the series. We don’t know why they are all fighting, but the voice speaking during the trailer gives some possible insight into some sort of arena they are fighting in.

Also revealed in both the trailer and the website is an extensive power-armor upgrade system. According to the website, “INJUSTICE 2 allows you to equip every iconic character with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game.” We don’t know if this is for each individual fight, or as you the player continues to use your characters, but it sounds like your favorite heroes and villains will have their own progression system and unlocks, which will improve both cosmetic and gameplay elements.

Injustice 2 is set to launch sometime in 2017, but for all things E3, check here at STG.
