This is a list of exciting new games coming out this year, but if your favorites aren’t on here, don’t be alarmed. Every game here is what I am most excited for personally. Feel free to comment if you have any suggestions or think differently.
1.Tom Clancy’s: The Division
As I have expressed many times before, I have full faith that this game will deliver as my game of the year. It features intense, third-person action that allows players to work as a team, or to work as an individual. Like few games out there, it blends multiple genres, including MMO, RPG, and Shooter and delivers a unique and long awaited for experience.
2. Doom
While this may seem odd to be so high up on this list, something about this game just sparks new life. Taking an old concept, similar to Wallenstein: The New Order, this game visits old concepts and makes them modern. The gameplay is fast and different, and drives gamers to encounter a different gaming experience.
3. Halo Wars 2
Many Halo fans out there grumble when they hear they’re getting another Halo Wars instead of Halo 6 or something similar. Others recognize the hours of fun that come with this game, and I’m more than excited to sink my thumbs in to playing hours of this game.
4. Unravel
This game has already been released so if you’re reading this now, go back and pick this one up. It’s a 2D side-scrolling story of a little ball of yarn recollecting someone’s life. The experience is engaging, satisfying, and more than worth the $20 to pick it up.
5. Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens
If you’re a gamer, you should know that Lego Star Wars games have made themselves a respectable name. Not to mention that it was this series in specific that caused the many Lego games we see every year. If it’s not for you, that’s alright. If it is for you, I hope you’re just as excited as I am.
6. Mass Effect Andromeda
While I never got to finish the Mass Effect trilogy being that ME 3 isn’t backwards compatible yet, I am more than excited for this game. Like most Bioware games, it should deliver an amazing story with complicated decisions that impact the rest of the game. While it isn’t as hyped as Mass Effect 3 was, it shouldn’t go overlooked.
7. Far Cry Primal
Far Cry 3 wasn’t just a game, but a much-needed experience. Far Cry 4 followed suit in delivering a game very similar, but in the end partially lack luster. Far Cry Primal is a completely unique experience to past games, and looks quite promising. The game launches next week, so be sure to look for reviews and impressions.
8. Cuphead
Yet another one of those crazy “Why is this on the list” games. Cuphead is not your typical game, but an artistic masterpiece. The game looks like authentic cartoons from who knows when, and should be fun and more than worth it.
9. Ghost Recon Wildlands
I am almost certain this game will get delayed, but for the time being it has made this list. My only recommendation is put this in the back of your mind without forgetting, and keep updated because IT LOOKS PROMISING.
10. Gears of War 4
I didn’t get into Gears until late after the 3rd game was released, and even then it took me time to go back and finish the series. Nevertheless, I have since learned what I’ve been missing and I think any Gears fan or person who enjoys good multiplayer should consider this game.
While many games fell short of my list in particular, I am still very excited for games like Crackdown 3, Quantum Break, Mafia III and plenty more. Check back at STG for more content and videos.
